The First Congress of Afghanistan’s Young Leaders
Saving Democratic Afghanistan: Ways Forward
National Press Club, Washington, DC
September 09, 2024
The Afghanistan Young Leaders Organization (AYLO) is proud to announce the inauguration of the Afghanistan Young Leaders Congress, scheduled for September 16, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Washington, DC, USA. This landmark event aims to promote democratic discourse in Afghanistan and foster the development of a new generation of leaders committed to progressive, pluralistic, and democratic ideals. AYLO envisions building a robust community of young leaders of Afghanistan equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to shape a forward-thinking and inclusive society. The organization believes that the emerging generational discourse in Afghanistan is inherently pluralistic and inclusive, forming the foundation for the country’s future socio-political order. AYLO asserts that Afghanistan’s young leaders, both men and women, drive positive change by leveraging science, technology, leadership, and democratic principles. Central to AYLO’s mission are the ideals of gender equality, the fight against gender apartheid, and the creation of a tolerant, religiously and culturally diverse society. These goals will be pursued through social cooperation, scientific innovation, and religious and cultural pluralism support. AYLO aims to facilitate meaningful discussions on Afghanistan’s most pressing challenges through the Afghanistan Young Leaders Congress. By fostering dialogue, encouraging academic engagement, and promoting practical collaboration, the event will generate actionable solutions to advance Afghanistan’s democratic future.
The First Afghanistan Young Leaders Congress has been launched with this forward-looking vision. In addition to the opening and closing sessions, the congress will feature four roundtable discussions, each focusing on key areas of Afghanistan’s socio-political development: (1) From Democracy to Gender Apartheid (2) Global Democracy: Fostering International Cooperation in Achieving Genuine Democratic Systems (3) Media and Information Freedom: Pillars of a Democratic Afghanistan and (4) From Resistance to Resilience: Fostering Democratic Values in Afghanistan. Furthermore, the congress will be hosting two paper presentations on (1) The Power of Cinema in Shaping the Future and (2) Digital Transformation for Democratic Advancement: Empowering Afghanistan through Technological Solutions, discussing the capabilities of new technology and art to strengthen the democratic discourse in Afghanistan.
The guest speakers and moderators for this congress include esteemed academics, researchers, and civic leaders from Afghanistan, who will bridge the country’s indigenous democratic discourse with global diplomatic perspectives and explore the possibilities of achieving a society founded on social justice. The Afghanistan Young Leaders Organization warmly invites media members to attend and actively participate in this significant event. Your role in shaping the narrative and disseminating the outcomes of this congress is crucial, and we look forward to your valuable contributions.
Yours Sincerely,
Afghanistan Young Leaders Organization
